If your doctor recently prescribed surgery, a nurse or coordinator will define with you the date when it will take place and the date when you should attend the preadmission unit if an anaesthetic consultation is necessary. A number of examinations are usually prescribed and everything can  be done in an afternoon: blood test, radiography, meeting with the anaesthetist.    If a meeting with the anaesthetist is necessary, remember to:    Complete the "Anaesthesia-Preoperation Consultation" questionnaire that you have been given  Note any course of drugs and/or any other treatment you are currently following  The anaesthetist will give your precise instructions regarding preparing for the surgery and your return home.
