Be well prepared for the surgery
If your doctor recently prescribed surgery, a nurse or coordinator will define with you the date when it will take place and the date when you should attend the preadmission unit if an anaesthetic consultation is necessary. A number of examinations are usually prescribed and everything can  be done in an afternoon: blood test, radiography, meeting with the anaesthetist.    If a meeting with the anaesthetist is necessary, remember to:    Complete the "Anaesthesia-Preoperation Consultation" questionnaire that you have been given  Note any course of drugs and/or any other treatment you are currently following  The anaesthetist will give your precise instructions regarding preparing for the surgery and your return home. For your own safety you must strictly respect these instructions   If you had or wish to have pre-operation examinations outside the Erasmus Hospital, please be sure you have the results before attending for this consultation    If a blood test and/or an electrocardiogram are necessary, these will be carried out by a nurse at the time of the anaesthesia consultation    Contact your mutual health insurance  If you have taken out complementary hospitalisation insurance please check the clauses in your contract with your broker to be sure what costs this insurance covers.    No show If there is a change in your state of health (e.g. illness, course of antibiotics, etc.) or if you have to change the date of your surgery please contact the coordinators as soon as possible so that we can make new arrangements to welcome you. If you do not inform us at least 48 hours before your surgery date, you will be charged €100.  Plastic surgery +32 (0)2 555 69 05  Neurosurgery +32 (0)2 555 83 73  ENT, urology, vascular surgery, endoscopy and stomatology +32 (0)2 555 38 56   Orthopaedics +32 (0)2 555 71 95  Ophthalmology +32 (0)2 555 71 87  Gynaecology +32 (0)2 555 53 11  Digestive surgery: +32(0)2 555 65 35  Cardiac surgery: +32 (0)2 555 68 65  For any other discipline we ask you to contact the preadmission unit on +32 (0)2 555 85 85
