Medical and compassionate support for bereaved families
15 October is World Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, a day that pays tribute to families who have lost their baby during pregnancy or around the time of birth.
Beyond medical care, the teams from the Gynaecology - Obstetrics Department wish to raise public awareness of the reality these families face after losing their baby: pain, silence and social isolation.
During their presence in the reception hall of Erasme Hospital, gynaecologists, midwives and other healthcare professionals who support parents through their grief will be available to open up the conversation on this taboo subject, answer questions, explain the care available at H.U.B, and, above all, listen to anyone who wishes to discuss it.
This initiative will take place on Thursday 15 October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the main hall of Erasme Hospital (on the ground floor), and will be followed by the inauguration of the Family Tree, a place of remembrance specially designed for all families who have experienced perinatal bereavement (registration required by 7 October 2026).
