Better understanding stroke to act faster

A stroke is a sudden medical emergency that requires immediate treatment. Recognizing the warning signs and acting quickly can save lives and reduce long-term disability. This day aims to raise awareness about symptoms, risk factors, and prevention.

The Neurovascular Clinic (Stroke Unit) teams will be present throughout the day in the main hall to provide information about stroke, its management, and the care pathway. Educational materials will also be available (nutrition, smoking, speech disorders, balance problems, driving, etc.).

Free tests will be offered in interactive zones:

Health Zone – Assess your stroke risk factors

  • Lipocheck: cholesterol test
  • Glycemia: blood sugar measurement
  • Upon arrival, you will receive a personalized roadmap to help track your results.

Information & Awareness Zone – Learn to act in time

  • QUIZ card: short, engaging questions
  • FAST method to quickly recognize stroke symptoms
  • Interactive materials: posters, leaflets, FAST4-WARD care pathway, food pyramid, physical activity recommendations
  • Take-home: mini guide with 14 key questions

  • When? Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Where? Erasmus Hospital – Route de Lennik 808, 1070 Anderlecht, main hall (ground floor)
  • Free and open to all
