Breastfeeding is one of several options for feeding your baby. Every experience is different, and your plans may evolve over time.
At the stand, our team of professionals will provide you with clear, accessible medical information to help you better understand:
- How lactation works and how your baby latches onto the breast;
- The different breastfeeding positions and techniques;
- The questions and difficulties that may arise during the first few weeks;
- The situations in which it may be useful to seek advice;
- The resources and consultations available before and after the birth.
Demonstrations of different breastfeeding techniques and short games will also help address the topic in a practical and interactive way.
What about after breast cancer?
Breastfeeding may also raise specific questions after cancer: is it possible to breastfeed after certain treatments? What options are available when treatment affected only one breast? What support is available?
The teams at Erasme Hospital and the Jules Bordet Institute work together to provide tailored support to women who have experienced breast cancer and wish to consider breastfeeding.
The stand will also provide an opportunity to discuss the link between breastfeeding and the risk of breast cancer, based on the available scientific knowledge.

You do not need to wait until you encounter a significant difficulty before asking for help.
A lactation consultation can, in particular, allow a feeding to be observed, the position and latch to be checked, questions about milk production to be answered, or support to be provided in a specific situation.
You are welcome to ask your questions, whether you are still pregnant or already a mother.
